Puerto Calero's Eco Action Week concluded this June 14 with a resounding success in participation and a program full of activities that combined sports, sustainability, gastronomy and environmental awareness.
One of the most anticipated moments was the KM 0 Gastronomic Contest, in which prominent port restaurants participated: La Taberna del Puerto, Amura Restaurante, Kon Niki, Hi Life and Mumbay Masala Puerto Calero. The latter was the winner thanks to its exquisite proposal: Moilee prawns with scarlet shrimp from La Santa, a dish that stood out for its flavor and its commitment to local produce.
The sports activities were also very well received. Telamón offered an energetic crossfit class; Catia Yoga, based in Puerto Calero, led an outdoor session; Código Cero offered the opportunity to sail aboard the fun J80s; and Calero Diving allowed attendees to experience a diving baptism.
Among the most outstanding actions, the coastal cleanup stands out, which brought together numerous volunteers committed to protecting the marine environment. The collected waste was analyzed and classified with the collaboration of the Marine Litter Observatory, providing important educational value to the day. This activity was supported by the Hotel Costa Calero, which offered a picnic to the participants and vouchers for its spa in recognition of their efforts. Submarine Safaris, Catlanza, Yaiza Art and We Wale also generously collaborated, donating prizes raffled among the attendees.
Participants were also able to attend a plastic recycling workshop of industrial origin, taught by the Papa Cría association.
Doggies del Sur, hand in hand with the Yaiza City Council, once again participated in this edition of Eco Action Week with the presentation of several of their dogs for adoption. The program was enlivened thanks to the collaboration of MG Eventos, which was responsible for the sound of all the activities.
The program was completed with two talks of great informative value. On the one hand, We Wale and CECAC, hand in hand with Gonzalo Apesteguía, addressed the importance of responsible action during marine sightings. On the other hand, Ezequiel Navío, from ADACIS, offered a conference on the exemplary role of the Canary Islands in the fight against marine pollution by hydrocarbons, highlighting the key role of Puerto Calero in this area.
Eco Action Week 2025 leaves a very positive balance, consolidating Puerto Calero as a benchmark in the promotion of sustainable tourism, respect for the marine environment and commitment to the local community. This event has been organized by Puerto Calero, in collaboration with Secret Lanzarote, within the framework of its activities as a Blue Flag Port.
