The Arrecife City Council will carry out the works of a new space of 60 square meters within the Animal Welfare Center, with the aim of promoting interaction between dogs and potential adopters. This initiative seeks to "not only improve the living conditions of the animals housed in the center, but also facilitate their adoption and promote a culture of responsible ownership", the Arrecife City Council has stressed.
The new space has a hércules type fence provided by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which allows a partial closure and allows to have a free area to walk the dogs. In addition, a park has been set up so that the animals can play in a comfortable environment, equipped with sand, gravel and other elements that favor their well-being.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor of Animal Welfare, Jacobo Lemes, visited this Monday the adaptation and improvement works of the center, where personnel from the Public Works Area are working. “We are committed to improving municipal facilities to ensure the welfare of our animals and this action is an example of our firm commitment to the application of the new Animal Welfare laws”, declared the capital's mayor.
De León also recalled that the Municipal Government group has several works underway to improve or renovate many of the existing municipal facilities, and thanked the "good joint work" carried out by the Local Police officers assigned to the Animal and Environmental Protection Unit, and the Arrecife Animal Welfare team.
In the same vein, Lemes applauded the work of the agents and the center staff and highlighted the "importance of the new space", which will serve to "strengthen the bond between animals and people interested in adopting". “This initiative not only improves the quality of life of our animals, but also offers potential adopters the opportunity to get to know them closely and establish a closer contact”, said the mayor.
Thus, he joined the mayor in his "commitment" to the application of the new Animal Welfare laws and recalled that these improvements “promote the responsible adoption of pets and provide an adequate environment for the care and protection of animals”.
