Two boats with 76 irregular immigrants of sub-Saharan origin on board were intercepted this Saturday on the high seas while heading to the east coast of Fuerteventura, the Civil Guard reported.
The boats were spotted around 10:20 a.m. by a Civil Guard helicopter, about eleven miles from the Entallada Lighthouse, in the municipality of Tuineje.
All the detained immigrants are sub-Saharan men of legal age and there were 34 in one boat and 42 in the other.
The boats with the immigrants were taken to the Gran Tarajal dock, where they were attended by the Red Cross and placed at the disposal of the Civil Guard.
According to sources from the Red Cross, the health condition of the immigrants is good.
