The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise has managed to clarify the theft of an old vehicle in Costa Teguise, which appeared days later burned in the area of ​​the Montaña de Tinajo. The event took place last week and this Wednesday, the agents arrested two people, as alleged perpetrators of that robbery and several more crimes, all of them committed in vehicles in Costa Teguise.

The arrested are both Spanish, with initials Y.N.M. and C.L.B., and the Civil Guard accuses them of five crimes of robbery with force in vehicles, two of them in attempted degree, in addition to a crime of robbery or theft of use of vehicles and one more of damages, by allegedly abandoning and setting fire to the tourism they stole.

As explained in a statement, the Civil Guard initiated an investigation following the complaint of six residents of the town of Costa Teguise, who narrated that during the early morning of August 9 they had caused damage to their vehicles to steal effects from the interior, such as radios and other personal objects, even taking one of the cars. The latter, as La Voz reported at the time, later appeared burned in the area known as Montaña de Tinajo.

"The modus operandi used by the alleged perpetrators, the circumstances in which the events took place and the itinerary followed by the aforementioned put the agents of the Investigation Team of the aforementioned Post on the trail of the perpetrators," explains the Civil Guard.

The investigation, in which the Local Police of Teguise collaborated, ended with these two arrests, while the Civil Guard "continues working on the recovery of the stolen objects." The two detainees were placed at the disposal of the Guard Courts of the town of Arrecife.

After the theft of the old car, a Citroen-Mehari, its owners contacted La Voz, asking for help to locate the vehicle, which belonged to a Belgian reporter-producer of television programs about legendary cars. "He is desperate, since it is a unique car and he had been fixing it for many years," his partner explained at the time.

A few days later, the car was found burned in Tinajo. "It is an important loss, especially sentimental," they lamented after learning the news. Although there are more cars of this model, "they are unique, because each one has different details."

In addition, the owner had invested a lot of money in fixing it and "every time he saved a little, he ordered new parts from the only factory in France that still makes the spare parts for this model."
