The vintage Citroen-Mehari car that was stolen last Saturday morning in Costa Teguise, has been found completely burned in Tinajo. Specifically, the remains of the vehicle were found on the north face of the Tinajo mountain, as confirmed to La Voz by the Local Police of this municipality.
Early on Wednesday, the owner of the car received a call from the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, in which they informed him that the car had been located and asked him to contact the Local Police of Tinajo. "We went to Tinajo and my partner confirmed that the remains found belonged to his car," explained the owner's partner, a Belgian reporter-producer of television programs about legendary cars, who was "desperate" to find it.
The couple is now awaiting a new call from the Civil Guard, which is investigating who was the perpetrator of the theft and burning of the vehicle.

Years fixing it up
"It's a significant loss, especially sentimental," explained the owner's partner. The owner had been with this vehicle for 10 years. Although there are more cars of this model, "they are unique, because each one has different details." In addition, this man had been "fixing it up for many years," since when he bought it, it was in poor condition.
Every time he saved a little, he ordered new parts from the only factory in France that still makes spare parts for this model. Therefore, the owner is "sad," although his partner believes that "he hasn't fully realized" what has happened and, for the moment, he is trying to find out if there is "any way to fix it with insurance." "What a sad end!" he laments.
