Emergency services have resumed this Thursday morning the search for the missing immigrants after the shipwreck of a boat in the waters of Lanzarote. This Wednesday the lifeless bodies of three women were found but eight people are still missing.
It was in the early hours of Wednesday when the boat capsized, with 28 people being rescued by Maritime Rescue. Once ashore, the rescued indicated that there were 39 people on the boat, so a search device was launched for the rest of the occupants.
Already in the morning, around 12:40, a sports fishing boat found the lifeless body of a woman and later, throughout the day, two other corpses were found, also of women. However, according to the testimony of the immigrants themselves, there would still be eight people to locate.
Thus, this Thursday the search device has been resumed. Specifically, as explained by the Security and Emergency Consortium, in the morning a helicopter from the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands and a vessel from Maritime Rescue will participate in it, who in the afternoon also plans to activate a helicopter. On Wednesday, the Civil Guard also joined the search efforts with a helicopter.
