"I am the first to condemn the terrible act," said the owner of the Yorkshire terrier found on July 21 in a garbage container, with the animal in a deplorable state, with its snout completely closed with packing tape and its eyes covered with the same tape, preventing the animal from breathing, which could lead to its death.
ACN Press has been able to contact the owner, a middle-aged woman of Argentine origin who lives with her husband in Playa Honda. She has acknowledged that "I threw my dog in the container, but because I thought he was dead and in my country, Argentina, it is not a crime to throw lifeless animals in the garbage." Despite her statements, the woman wanted to make it clear that "I didn't do it, some heartless person entered my house and threw the dog at me as they later found him."
REMOVAL FOR PRUDENCE
Fortunately, today the dog is in good condition and, although its owner has been located, the suspicion that she could have been the perpetrator of the atrocious act has led the Local Police Force to put the file in the hands of the Duty Court and to keep the animal in the hands of the Collection Body of the Ajei Consortium, which is checking the condition of the rest of the pets that the alleged perpetrator owns daily until the judge issues a sentence.
Abuse is not justified in any of the cases and this type of action is grounds for very serious administrative sanctions, with fines ranging from 1,500 to 15,000 euros, while also constituting a criminal offense. In this case, and if resolved against the animal's owner, the consequence would also be the immediate removal of the rest of the animals that the couple owns, another dog, birds and several fish.
