The National Police has decided to extend the exhibition period of the stolen jewels that were recovered by this police force after the arrest of a man in Lanzarote, within a drug operation developed nationwide.

The jewels were already on display this week, from Tuesday to Thursday, but the National Police has decided to maintain the exhibition throughout next week since, so far, only three people have managed to recover some of their belongings.

According to reports from the National Police, there are still "more than 200 jewels" to be recognized, some of "very high value". "There are gold watches, thick chains, jewelry with initials...?", they point out.

Therefore, the National Police is calling on all those people who have been the object of theft in recent years, as their belongings may be among those found.

Thus, they can come to see these seized jewelry pieces on the 6th and 7th, between 9 am and 1 pm, and on the 8th and 9th, in the afternoon, between 6 pm and 8 pm. "These are jewels that may have been stolen 2 or 4 years ago, so if you have suffered a theft some time ago, they may be here."

Even so, the National Police Station affirms that many people have come there this week. "About 50 or 60 people must have come, at least."

"Tired" of being robbed

However, the vast majority have not been lucky in their search. This is the case of María Bjorg, a woman residing in El Cable who claims that last July several jewels were stolen from her, including a ring, a watch and several pairs of earrings. "I haven't found anything", she said upon leaving the police station.

María says she is "tired" of having her house broken into because, she says, she has been the victim of robberies on multiple occasions. "I have been robbed at least four times. Once they came to steal the television and since they forgot the remote control, they came back for it. And another time they came to take the scale", she said.

A resident of Costa Teguise also came hopefully to the National Police Station in search of the engagement ring that was stolen from her years ago, among other jewels. However, she was also unlucky and did not find it. "I'm disappointed", said this woman, who thinks that these exhibitions "should be repeated more often.
