The Arrecife City Council has not yet taken measures against the Arrecife taxi drivers who were involved in a fight over the weekend, but the events have already been reported in the courts. "The intention is for the taxi drivers' association to send me a report and wait for the sentence to be handed down so that we can apply the incident regulations based on the charges against them," explains the Councilor for Transportation, Víctor Betancort.

Apparently, [one of the taxi drivers stabbed the other->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/Un-taxista-acuchilla-a-un] after a heated argument about who was entitled to a service. The injured man had to be treated in the Hospital and the alleged aggressor was detained for 48 hours.

In both cases, the taxi drivers were employees and, in the case of the alleged aggressor, the owner of the license has already suspended his contract, while the other continues to work.

From the Taxi Association, its president José Ramón Parrilla states that "we are not going to judge anyone; what we have done is send a letter to the Department of Transportation so that this does not happen again and we believe it is appropriate to carry out a more thorough control of the municipal cards issued by the City Council to work in taxis".
