Bather rescued with signs of drowning on El Jablillo beach in Costa Teguise

The strong waves have forced the raising of the red flag on Bastián and Jablillo beaches, both in Costa Teguise.

As La Voz has learned, the decision to prohibit swimming was made after a woman nearly drowned due to the current. The first to bear the prohibition to swim was Bastián beach. After that, it was decided to do the same with Jablillo.

It is expected that this Wednesday swimming in both emblematic beaches of the municipality of Teguise will remain closed in order to safeguard the integrity of the bathers.

On the occasion of the start of the summer season, the Ministry of Health informed in early July of the importance of respecting the meaning of the flags and the indications of the lifeguards.

In this case, he reminded beach users to "never bathe with a red flag." He also recommended that bathers do not consume alcohol or other drugs when any type of activity is going to be carried out in the water.

All the advice and warnings can be read on the Ministry of Health's website.
