Sara Animal Protector reports on its website that a podenco has been "beaten" on the head in the Risco de Famara area. According to the NGO, "last night, January 29, a girl was driving her car through Famara when she noticed how a podenco was wandering along the road. When she was able to approach her to rescue her, she realized that she was bleeding on her head, mouth, body... a terrifying image for anyone sensitive to animal life!"
The young woman picked up the dog alone "without the help of other people who were also circulating in the area, who did not stop to help her", and took her to an emergency clinic, as stated on their website. From the clinic, the podenco was transferred the following day to Sara's facilities since it was a dog without a chip and abandoned. The podenco was baptized with the name of Sahar, "in honor of the person who rescued her".
From the protector they explain that "at this moment, Sahar is in critical condition, she continues to vomit and her howls of pain are heartbreaking, we have had to sedate her so that she does not suffer so much pain. We are dismayed to see what the human being is capable of. From the blow she has suffered it is very probable that her left eye will be lost, it is very badly injured".
