The Civil Guard of the post of San Bartolomé arrested this Tuesday a person, of initials A.R.A., 35 years of age, with antecedents in the same matter and neighbor of the municipality of Arrecife, for several crimes related to gender violence, "compiled based on article 173.2 of the Penal Code", explains the Benemérita.

According to the Civil Guard in its statement, the detainee, who had already been tried for similar events in February of this year on the same victim, allegedly violated a judicial measure of restraining order and prohibition of communication with the aforementioned, in addition to threatening and coercing her.

Three months without complying with the restraining order

During the past month of February this man was arrested for similar events, related to gender violence, specifically for threats and minor injuries against the same person.

The Civil Guard proceeded to his arrest on February 20, after having knowledge of the facts through a complaint from the victim. In the first instance, the judicial authority ordered as a precautionary measure a restraining order and prohibition of communication with the victim, until the final trial for the events took place.

However, as a result of the investigations carried out by the Civil Guard and the complaint filed by the victim on the 7th, "it was verified how A.R.A. breached said provisional sentence since last April", the police force points out.

Threats and coercion to the victim and her environment

In addition, the agents verified the "threats that A.R.A. allegedly made to the victim and her friends" of "burning or destroying their private vehicles", the Civil Guard points out. The objective, they explain, was that "they would not testify against him when the corresponding oral hearing or trial took place for the events committed in February and already referred to".

In parallel, A.R.A. allegedly coerced the victim into having sexual relations with him, with the warning of publishing intimate photographs of her on the Internet and on her social networks.

Upon learning of all these facts, the agents of the Civil Guard proceeded "immediately" to the arrest of this person as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of breach of sentence, coercion and threats framed against his partner, which constitutes a crime against moral integrity, commonly known as gender violence.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court of Violence against Women of Arrecife on the 7th of this month. 016 is the assistance telephone for victims of gender violence, it is free and leaves no trace on the telephone bill.
