Firefighters extinguished the fire that occurred in a car recovery behind the Arrecife cemetery, in Argana Alta. A call alerted Cecoes around 01:00 this Saturday about the flames coming from a junkyard located behind the San Román cemetery. Local Police officers and firefighters went to the scene and were in charge of extinguishing the flames. Fortunately, there were no injuries
As explained by the Emergency Consortium, "once at the scene, we verified that it was a car recovery fire and that it affected an approximate area of 3000 square meters in which there were cars stacked at various heights." They point out that "given the dimensions of the fire, it was decided to make a firebreak in order to prevent it from continuing to spread to the rest of the vehicles that were not burning." Once the fire was controlled, the firefighters allowed the fuel to be consumed, "since it was impossible to attempt extinction because most of the burned area could not be reached," explain from the Emregencias Consortium. When the fire subsided, they "attacked" several outbreaks with foam and when some were still waiting for the fuel to be consumed, the area remained under control.
