Drug trafficking operation in Lanzarote

Agents of the National Police of Arrecife have arrested eleven people between 20 and 52 years old, four of them with police records, as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking crime.

At the beginning of the summer, the National Police received several complaints through citizen participation channels that revealed a series of drug sales points in the towns of Caleta de Caballo and Matagorda (Puerto del Carmen).

The investigators were able to verify how the residents of the investigated homes led a high standard of living without having any type of work activity, spending large amounts of money in restaurants, trips, jewelry and high-end cars.

The police investigations allowed to identify a third address located in Playa Honda, from which other members of the group also sold narcotics.

The method used to hide the drug was to introduce it into soft drink bottles, which made it practically undetectable.

With the mandatory judicial order, searches were carried out in the three aforementioned addresses, in which 1,200 grams of amphetamine (one of the largest quantities seized in recent times), 503 grams of cocaine and more than 30 kilos of hashish were seized. Five vehicles, jewelry and 42,800 euros in cash have also been seized.
