The Civil Guard of the Main Post of San Bartolomé arrested on September 24 a male with initials E.M.E.R. - a resident of Arrecife with numerous police records - as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation in an attempted degree and injuries, for assaulting a taxi driver to try to steal the collection.
The investigations began on the 22nd, when the Civil Guard became aware of the aggression that occurred that morning in the town of Playa Honda. The victim, 69 years of age, told the agents that he had performed a service picking up E.M.E.R. in Arrecife, transferring him to Playa Honda.
On Bergantín street, when he got out of the taxi, he allegedly opened the passenger door and grabbed him by the neck, causing injuries and threatening to hurt him with a knife so that he would give him the taxi money. However, the victim managed to break free and flee driving from the place.
The agents of the Investigation Area managed to collect later the necessary evidence to arrest E.M.E.R. for the aforementioned aggression, thanks to the statement of several witnesses and the discovery of his national identity document in the taxi where the events occurred, found the day after the aggression.
Finally, the agents arrested E.M.E.R. on the 24th as the alleged perpetrator of the aforementioned crimes, passing to the disposition of the corresponding Court, in guard functions, of the town of Arrecife.
