Covered in paint. This is how a van ended up after an accident that took place in Playa Blanca on Friday morning.

The events took place around 07:00 hours on Papagayo Avenue, where road workers were painting a crosswalk. "The vehicle collided with the paint machine and, if we hadn't jumped, it would have run us over," one of the workers told La Voz.

"There was no one directing traffic," complained a witness to the events, who, although he pointed out that there were "some work cones" in the area, believes that they generated "confusion" and that "you couldn't know which direction to go." "It seems like a big failure and a workplace risk violation," said the man.

In this regard, one of the workers defended himself, stating that "there was a road work sign posted." "What happens is that since the sidewalks here are just over two meters wide, it was placed on a lamppost and it may be that when taking the curve and having the sun in front, he had less visibility."

However, this worker attributes the accident to a "distraction" of the driver. "Because there was a car in front and my colleague gave way to the car, but the van driver didn't realize, he thought the car was going to park on the right side, he continued straight and found us," he said. In addition, he questioned "the speed" at which the van was going, since he claims that "it sent the paint machine 50 meters away."
