A 33-year-old woman lost her life this Tuesday after a collision involving the car she was driving and a van, at 18:43 hours in the afternoon on the LZ1 road, from Órzona to Arrecife, direction Tahíche-Guatiza at kilometer 12.
According to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES 1-1-2), three other women were traveling with the deceased woman, and in the other crashed car only the driver, who was not affected.
According to Emergencias y Rescate Lanzarote (Emerlan), from the data provided by an eyewitness, the deceased, six months pregnant, was poly-traumatized when she was thrown from the vehicle in which she was traveling, suffering a cardio-respiratory arrest. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, it was impossible to save her life.
Two other people suffered injuries of varying degrees but of a minor nature, so they were transferred to the General Hospital of Lanzarote. According to data provided by the NGO Spanish Red Cross in Lanzarote, one of the women, about 25 years old, suffers a possible clavicle fracture and was transferred by a basic life support ambulance from Emerlan.
A unit of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) went to the scene of the accident, which confirmed the death of the woman, an assistance unit of the Red Cross and another of Emerlan, as well as members of the Civil Guard, who instructed the corresponding report, and the firefighters of the Island Council, who collaborated with the intervening resources and carried out the cleaning of the road.
The vehicles involved were a white Wolkswagen LT van, with one occupant, and a metallic black Wolkswagen Polo car, in which four occupants were traveling.
