ACN.- The Agency for the Protection of the Urban and Natural Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands has inserted in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands the announcement by which the resolution of the sanctioning file for the dumping of hazardous waste (fuel) on the land in the place known as Playa de Papagayo, municipality of Yaiza, is publicly notified.

According to the BOC, in its edition of last Tuesday, "having not been able to practice the notification to Mr. Vicente Martín Umpiérrez, of Resolution No. 2160, of the Hon. Mr. Executive Director of the Agency for the Protection of the Urban and Natural Environment, dated June 15, 2005, in the terms of the first section of article 59 of Law 30/1992, of November 26, on the Legal Regime of Public Administrations and the Common Administrative Procedure; in accordance with the fourth section of the aforementioned article, a sanctioning procedure is initiated against Mr. Vicente Martín Umpiérrez for the dumping of hazardous waste (fuel) on the land in the place known as Playa de Papagayo, municipality of Yaiza".

The Yaiza City Council recalls that the beaches of Papagayo are located in the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, a protected area where 16 municipal workers provide their services, carrying out cleaning, security and conservation tasks.

"After the notification of this resolution, in accordance with article 16 of the Regulations of the procedure for the exercise of the sanctioning power" - says the BOC - "a period of fifteen days is opened to formulate as many allegations, documents or information as deemed appropriate and, where appropriate, propose evidence specifying the means they intend to use.
