A 37-year-old man has died after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest after getting out of the water after practicing kitesurfing on Famara beach, in the municipality of Teguise. The incident took place at approximately 5:00 p.m. this Saturday. A call alerted the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordinating Center, reporting that a young man had fainted after getting out of the water after practicing kitesurfing.
According to reports from Cecoes, there was a nurse on the beach who confirmed that he had gone into cardiorespiratory arrest. In contact with the SUC coordinating doctor at 1-1-2, she began cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers together with beach lifeguards.
Two SUC ambulances were dispatched to the scene, one of them a medicalized unit, which continued the maneuvers with advanced techniques, without success, confirming the death.
The Local Police collaborated with the intervening health resources. The Civil Guard has taken charge of the proceedings with the judicial authority.
