An agent of the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote was arrested by his own colleagues of the Benemérita, for alleged irregularities in the processing of traffic fines. Along with him, a local police officer from the municipality of Tías was also arrested for the same reason, as confirmed by police sources.

The two agents appeared in court this Friday, after being formally arrested by members of the Civil Guard, who had been investigating alleged criminal acts that occurred during the processing of complaints for traffic violations for some time.

According to sources close to the case, the arrests could be related to the alleged disappearance of documents relating to numerous complaints filed by members of the state security forces against citizens residing on the island.
