A boat with at least 11 immigrants arrived in Las Caletas early this Tuesday morning. Of those, seven, including the only woman on board, reported being minors, according to the Civil Guard.

It was a citizen who, around 4:30 a.m., called the Main Post of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, reporting that he had seen several people with wet clothes walking near Jablillo Beach.

Several units of the Civil Guard and Local Police then went to the area, managing to locate 11 immigrants, who were attended to by SUC and the Red Cross, although no transfers to health centers had to be made. All the immigrants are of Maghrebi origin and will be transferred to the National Police Station of Arrecife.

The third boat in three weeks

This is the third boat that has arrived in Lanzarote in three weeks. It should be remembered that on April 26, a boat with about twenty immigrants arrived in La Graciosa and that a week before, another boat had arrived at Famara beach.

In the latter case, the boat also carried drugs and 13 immigrants were intercepted, seizing 116 kilos of hashish. Seven of them, including the alleged skipper of the boat, were brought to justice after being arrested by the Civil Guard and the Local Police. Six were sent to provisional prison for crimes against public health, while the seventh was released on charges for the same crimes but to a lesser degree.
