The Hesperia Playa Dorada Hotel, in Playa Blanca, has suffered a fire on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., when the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) received a call alerting to a fire in the establishment.

The fire, according to reports from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, broke out in the kitchen area, due to problems in one of the fryers. The employees managed to extinguish the flames, but as a precaution, the hotel manager decided to evacuate the establishment, where there were about 200 customers at that time.

Personnel from the Fire Department, Yaiza Local Police, Civil Protection and Civil Guard were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, the fire was extinguished and they only had to open doors and windows so that the smoke could escape, although two hotel cooks had mild intoxication from smoke inhalation, so they had to be transferred to the Playa Blanca Health Center.
