International film director, journalist and translator Gosia Juszczak will be present next Saturday, November 4 during the celebration of the largest ocean festival in Europe, International Ocean Film Tour, which will once again stop in Lanzarote as part of its world tour.

Polish filmmaker Gosnia Juszczak presents at the festival, held in the Jameos del Agua, her first short documentary, Stolen fish, which delves into the harsh reality of fishing off the coast of Africa's smallest country, Gambia, where illegal trawlers supplying foreign fishmeal factories have wiped out one of the country's main sources of income and driven thousands of people into poverty.

Stolen Fish shows this reality from its protagonists, the fishermen Paul and Abou, and the fishmonger Mariama, in a 30-minute short film with which the director makes her debut in documentary production, in a work co-produced by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Madrid Liaison Office.

Gosnia Juszczak is a graduate in documentary film creation from the Andrzej Wajda Film School in Warsaw and her work focuses on issues of social importance, migration and borders. In this short film, she launches herself into a new genre after her research trips to the Southern Border, which enriches a multidisciplinary curriculum that includes work as a Human Rights observer in the Middle East (Palestine) and a certified educator of anti-discrimination and cultural and religious diversity by the European Peer Training Organisation, among others.

The International Ocean Film Tour in Spain sold out tickets for its event in Lanzarote in a matter of days, confirming the success of this innovative and unique concept event that promotes environmental awareness throughout Spain.

Among the novelties of this screening in Lanzarote are the raffles among the audience, who will be able to enjoy experiences thanks to the festival's collaborators. The festival will raffle in Lanzarote four double diving courses courtesy of the Pastinaca Diving Club, three guides to marine biodiversity of the Canary Islands courtesy of Oceanográfica and two meals for two at the Farmer's Monument, courtesy of Turismo Lanzarote, among other surprises and novelties.

This edition features documentaries from Australia, Germany, Tonga, Lebanon, Poland, England, and Spain, which contribute their international vision in the works 'The power of activism', 'No limits', 'George & the whales', 'Sweet adventure', 'Facing monsters' and 'Stolen fish'.
