The El Aljibe hall hosted this Saturday the presentation of the book "Centenary of the Haría Town Hall 1922-2022". A work written by the memorialists of the municipality, Óscar Torres and Jesús Perdomo, and Dolores González Borges, Graduate and Professor of Art.
The mayoress, Chaxiraxi Niz, and the Councilor for Culture, Mª Evelia García, have addressed a few words to the public, to give some historical data and have presented the authors.
Later, Óscar Torres, spokesman for his partner Jesús Perdomo, took the floor and was very excited to be able to present this book that has been published by the northern Town Hall. A work that will help perpetuate the historical memory of people, institutions and towns.
As Torres explained, with this work they have carried out a review of the 100 years of the municipality's history. Recording the value and work of these men and women who have given everything to improve the well-being of Haría, from the mayor Antonio Ramírez del Castillo to the current and first female mayor of the municipality, Chaxiraxi Niz Guadalupe.
Mª Dolores González in her speech spoke about the study of the construction of the town halls of Lanzarote that began in the municipality of Haría by resolution of the corporation presided over by the mayor Antonio Ramírez del Castillo, back in 1919 and being inaugurated on February 8, 1922.
González has described in great detail the elements that enhance the main and side facade in its doors, windows, balconies, etc. and also of the flag and shield of the municipality with its shapes and elements, both created by Santiago Alemán Valls, professor of plastic arts and design in the specialty of artistic drawing of the School of Art "Pancho Lasso".
The 157-page book is a real gem with the prologue by Francisco Hernández Delgado, Official Chronicler of Teguise. The capacity of the room has been too small to accommodate the relatives, neighbors, friends and personalities of the Culture and Island Politics.
