Ryanair will once again have a base at Lanzarote airport. The opening will take place in the last weeks of March 2023 and will be accompanied by 60 new jobs on the island for highly qualified pilots, cabin crew and engineers.

The Irish company has decided that the base will return to the island after it had to be closed in early 2020 due to delays in the delivery of Boeing aircraft.

The announcement was made this Monday by the company at a meeting with the press at the César Manrique airport, where Ryanair also unveiled the opening of three new routes that will connect Lanzarote with Cologne, Knock (Ireland) and Paris.

Ryanair will also have a base in Tenerife again, where it is adding three new routes to Bordeaux, Eindhoven and Nuremberg. The reopening of the Tenerife base will mean another 60 direct jobs on the capital island.

The opening of both bases in Lanzarote and Tenerife is equivalent to a total investment of 400 million euros and the incorporation of the six new routes mentioned means that the Canary Islands reach 70 routes in total, which represents more than a 10% growth in capacity in the region.

Ryanair is committed to continuing to grow and develop in the Canary Islands through continued collaboration with associated airports, the Government, the hotel industry and local tourism organisations.
