The Housing Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Sebastián Franquis, has launched the payment of the check for up to 250 euros per month to the first 328 beneficiaries of the Youth Rental Bonus in the Canary Islands, an aid that was launched last August and aimed at facilitating the emancipation of young people between 18 and 35 years old by paying them an allowance for 24 months to pay the rents of the homes in which they live. The Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI) has today published the first resolution granting the Youth Rental Bonus in the Canary Islands after assessing 2,278 files, and will begin to pay the aid to the beneficiaries who meet all the requirements starting next week.
These first 328 beneficiaries have been assigned aid worth 1,926,000 euros to be paid over the 24 months of the aid's validity. However, this first payment covers the months of January to August, so the Government will pay the beneficiaries 416,000 euros starting next week. At the end of the 24 months, the young beneficiaries will have received bonuses for a maximum value of 6,000 euros.
The ICAVI is still working on finalizing new payment resolutions that will increase the number of beneficiaries, and for this reason, it will require the 1,950 young people who applied for the aid, but did not provide all the required documentation, to do so in the coming days so that they have the opportunity to also be qualified as beneficiaries.
Those 328 young people who meet all the requirements demanded by this line of aid will benefit from next week from a subsidy on the rent receipt of up to 250 euros per month for two years, to be applied, retroactively, from January 1 of this year. The payment of this aid will be made quarterly after justification of the rental payments.
This aid, which has a global allocation of 21,200,000 euros committed by the State for this and next year, was announced on August 2 and is aimed at people between 18 and 35 years of age who are owners or are in a position to sign a lease agreement for a home or room in the Canary Islands, and who have a source of income equal to or less than three times the Public Indicator of Income of Multiple Effects (IPREM) of 2021, that is, 23,725.80 euros per year.
The objective of this line of aid from the Youth Rental Bonus is to "promote emancipation and access to decent housing for this sector of the population." This aid will remain open until October 31, so the website designed for this sector of the population to have all the information, to check if they meet the requirements to apply for the aid, the necessary documentation and the available modalities to submit their application, is still available.
