The unemployment data for February in Lanzarote shows a decrease of 5% compared to January, which translates into 586 fewer unemployed. This occurs after the number of unemployed increased in the previous month, and it did so for the first time after eight months.
In relation to the year-on-year percentage, the decrease has been increasing, and is established at 44.3% compared to the same month of 2021, when Lanzarote had 19,872 unemployed.
Of the 11,077 unemployed currently in Lanzarote, 4,751 are men and 6,326 are women. By municipality, Arrecife has the most unemployed in February, with a total of 5,791. It is followed by San Bartolomé with 1,226, Teguise with 1,178 and Tías with 1,177. Yaiza has 932 unemployed people, while Tinajo has 396 and Haría 379.
As for the entire Archipelago, the number of unemployed registered in public employment offices decreased by 2,022 people at the end of February compared to January, 0.98%, bringing the total to 205,134 unemployed, after the signing of 55,148 contracts, 27% of them indefinite.
