The Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce held an informative day on Morocco on Thursday morning, aimed at informing local businessmen interested in the neighboring market.
The Director of the AfricaInfomarket platform, David Saavedra, explained to the attendees the numerous tools available on the [web->http://www.africainfomarket.org] to invest in the African continent. This platform, financed by the Canary Islands Society for Economic Development, Proexca, the Canary Islands Chambers of Commerce and the General Directorate of Relations with Africa, is an expert in providing information and personalized advice to Canary Islands businessmen who are interested in Africa.
Saavedra pointed out the advantage of Morocco over other countries on the continent because it enjoys a modern economy similar to ours, "the Moroccan economy attracts because of its banking system, which is very efficient, almost all of its banks have participation from Spanish banks and have developed an interesting stock market". The Alaouite kingdom is considered within the group of emerging countries, "a fact that arouses special interest among financial and investor circles", continues Saavedra.
The Souss Massa Drâa area, where Agadir is located, presents numerous business opportunities, especially in the real estate, construction, tourism, agricultural, fishing and artisan sectors, says Majid Elouttasy, business promoter of the Chamber in Agadir. "There is also a very attractive film industry that has 2 large studios at the gateway to the desert and the rose industry, currently exploited by the French, Dutch and Germans", explains Elouttasy.
Interest of steel fixers and installers
The Chamber's business promoter in Agadir has held numerous working meetings this week with several companies from Lanzarote that have projects underway, as well as studying the viability of their proposals with them. In this sense, Majid Elouttasy reminded businessmen who have not yet used his free services that he is available to prepare work agendas and accompany them on their visit to Morocco, in order to break the possible linguistic barrier that arises.
The companies that are becoming interested in Morocco are increasingly smaller, "examples such as subcontractors for construction (installers and steel fixers), or the service sector, are increasingly encouraged to try their luck in this next market, driven by the delicate situation in our local market", says Alejandro Rueda, Foreign Trade Technician of the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce. In this sense, having the direct support of a person in Morocco is a luxury that must be used, in addition to the prior advice provided by the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce. "It must be remembered that the Chamber is present before, during and after the internationalization process", continues Rueda.
The Foreign Trade Department of the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce makes available to Lanzarote businessmen a series of very useful tools to address going abroad. Information on the numerous existing aids, on real business opportunities, specific projects and, as the most important measure, the accompaniment of this business promoter on the on-site visit to Agadir.
