The CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, informed the Board of Directors this Monday that the progress of the Income Statement for the year 2022 shows a profit prior to the final audit report amounting to 5.3 million euros, specifically, 5,323,957.55 euros, which constitutes a record for the entity.

Revenues in 2022 reached 32.6 million euros compared to 29.2 in 2019. In the sales chapter, it is worth highlighting the 6.1 million euros received for the restaurant service compared to 5.5 in 2019, and the almost 4 million euros received in the stores.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, María Dolores Corujo, has valued some numbers “that reflect the success of a management model that bets on quality, excellence and warmth in the service; for the care, attention and pampering of the work of César Manrique, and for the well-being of the workers of the Entity. The Tourist Centers” Corujo has related, “would not be what they are today without those who visit them every day, but neither without the effort, commitment and responsibility of those who are their true engine”.

For his part, the CEO, Benjamín Perdomo, pointed out that the Tourist Centers have managed to reach these figures after a start to the year “very complicated because we were still under the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. Then we managed to straighten the course until we reached an unprecedented year in the history of the Entity”. Among the keys to this benefit, Perdomo has cited “the increase in income thanks to an attractive and dynamic offer, the rationalization in the process of purchases and the consumption of resources, the control of current expenses and the reduction of operating expenses”.

2022 in figures

The progress of the Income Statement of the Tourist Centers corresponding to the past year includes revenues that amounted to 32,667,808.61 euros.

As explained, the restaurant business brought in 6.1 million euros. “We always believed in the possibilities offered by the restaurants of the Tourist Centers. We only needed to listen to the professionals of our kitchen teams and work with criteria, rigor and common sense to shape a suggestive and attractive proposal”. In 2019, 5.5 million euros were received for this concept.

The stores reached 4 million euros as a result “of having given a complete turn to a proposal that today is the best showcase to show off the work and creativity of the artisans of the island”. In 2019, 3.5 million euros were obtained.

The costs of supplies in 2022 reached 4.2 million euros while they were 4.9 million in 2019.

The expenses associated with the personnel chapter, finally, were 13.2 million euros compared to 13.6 in 2019.

“There are no miracles” Perdomo concluded, “and yes many hours of work, dedication and effort to recover the course that this entity should never have lost”.
