The Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), together with the Lanzarote City Council, within the 'Emerge 2017' project to combat the underground economy, has launched a new initiative. This is a 1.40-minute humorous video starring the comedian Gazz and aimed at young people, which has already begun to be broadcast on the most common social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.
This action is part of the plan to combat the underground economy that is being carried out by the Lanzarote CEL Business Confederation and is financed by the Department of Employment of the Lanzarote City Council.
From the beginning, the video shows Gazz talking to his friend Nacho, who is happy to have found a job without being registered with Social Security and thus be able to combine it with collecting unemployment benefits. The protagonist, in a mocking tone, tells him what the "advantages" are, in reality disadvantages, that he will face if he accepts that job.
One of the main objectives pursued by the CEL is to give visibility "to the problem that the underground economy poses for society in general, and for Lanzarote in particular." "However, the biggest challenge is to desensitize society itself about this reality and encourage them not to be complicit in it," they point out from the confederation.
The CEL wants more and more people to decide to be on the legal side of the economy. "In this way, they would stop exposing themselves to the imposition of fines and sanctions, the risk of criminal liability in the event of a work accident, they would renounce a situation that does not allow them to benefit from bonuses or subsidies and limits their access to external financing, in addition to preventing business consolidation," they detail.
