The Lanzarote Business Circle has presented the "Impulse and Dynamization Unit for Transformative Projects for the island of Lanzarote", a space that will serve as strategic support for all those who want to develop projects that recover and transform Lanzarote.

The initiative, presented this Thursday at the Castillo de San José in Arrecife by the consulting firm PwC, will have a work team appointed by the business association, so that it attends to public-private entities.

The opening of the event was carried out by José Valle, who explained to those present the need to address innovative projects that promote the development of the island, based on a qualitative and not quantitative character.

"Our island cannot support more urban growth, but it can support a transformation model that has sustainability, environmental care, innovation and digitization as its axes, which is based on R&D&I, which focuses on improving the quality of life of the island's inhabitants, and which generates employment and has an impact on the economy", says José Valle, president of the Lanzarote Business Circle.

Likewise, José Valle extended a hand to public administrations, asking them to join in creating synergies with the island's business sector to row in the same direction and turn Lanzarote into a benchmark. "We have many possibilities to make our island an example to follow in terms of tourism development, urban planning, creation of sustainable employment, transformation of the productive fabric, promotion of our crafts, culture and gastronomy."

For his part, the head of Consulting in the Canary Islands of PwC, Marcos Cohen, explained that through this initiative "the most viable projects will be studied to attract funds that promote the implementation of the different initiatives", in addition to aligning private projects with the needs of public administrations.

"The aim is to design economically viable projects that contribute to serving as support to the public sector for the design, promotion and execution of transformative projects that can be co-financed by the Canary Islands public administrations and by European funds," he indicated.

Finally, the vice president of the Lanzarote Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz, closed the event explaining that "the globalized world in which we live forces a continuous update of all types of companies to provide a response and provide an adequate service to customers and, thanks to initiatives such as that of the Círculo, this will be easier."

In addition, he stated that public-private collaboration is a challenge, "but it requires us to embrace that opportunity, because that is where administrations must be without distinctions of colors, but united to achieve success."

It should be noted that, from the Business Circle, they maintain that they have already begun to "bet on this type of project" and a clear example of this is the agreement with the Metrópoli Foundation, which has the objective of "studying the viability of an urban transformation project of the island towards an urban model that is committed to detecting the best opportunities for the destination in the future."
