The Lanzarote Business Circle has signed a collaboration agreement with the Metrópoli Foundation, with the aim of studying the feasibility of an urban transformation project on the island.

The plan will be based on detecting possible improvements for the future of Lanzarote, with projects capable of revitalizing the economy, attracting employment and improving the city, in addition to accelerating competitiveness, innovation, quality of life and sustainability.

"We call on the public administrations of all the municipalities of the island of Lanzarote to join this initiative,” says José Valle, president of the Lanzarote Business Circle. “The consensus and convergence of interests between businessmen, the public sector and the support of the different sectors of society will help us launch Lanzarote towards growth and development as a destination and create smart cities based on digital technology."

For its part, the Metrópoli Foundation, an international center dedicated to research and innovation, pursues the objective of identifying the competitive advantages of cities. “We try to learn from the experience in sustainability of Copenhagen and Malmö, the strategic vision of Singapore, the continuous transformation of Bilbao, the commitment to innovation of Helsinki, or other examples of cities that are facing the future successfully," emphasizes Alfonso Vergara, president of the Foundation.
