The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has celebrated the inclusion of the César Manrique – Lanzarote airport in the DORA 2022-26 Plan of the Ministry of Transport and Mobility, which means an injection of 19.5 million euros into the Lanzarote airport.

Corujo highlighted that the planned investment, "the result of dialogue and inter-administrative collaboration, will favor the adaptation of the site to the challenges posed by the new air traffic, the increase in safety and quality standards in airport services and the improvement of the island's competitiveness as a sustainable tourist destination."

The actions planned in the DORA Plan will take place on the platform and the airfield, as well as in the terminal itself. Interventions will be carried out to increase the safety of passengers and professionals working at César Manrique - Lanzarote, as well as the operation of navigation, during the period between 2022 and 2026.

The president of the First Island Institution has thanked "the sensitivity of the Ministry of Transport and Mobility with an installation that is the gateway and the letter of introduction to Lanzarote", and has announced that she will continue working "so that the island can have a site appropriate to the needs and compatible with the island's development model and, at the same time, capable of reminding the newcomer that he has just landed in the land of César Manrique."

At this point, María Dolores Corujo recalled the meeting she held last June in Madrid with the then minister José Luis Ábalos, in which both leaders addressed the future of the Master Plan of the César Manrique – Lanzarote airport, and the need to implement "an identity according to the island where César Manrique was born", among other relevant issues related to airport infrastructure.

The Airport Regulation Document (DORA) is a five-year plan that establishes the minimum conditions necessary to guarantee the accessibility, sufficiency and suitability of airport infrastructures and the adequate provision of basic services of the Aena, S.A. network, in terms of capacity of its infrastructures, investments, quality and conditions of the provision of airport services, and setting the path of variation of the maximum annual income per passenger allowed to the operator.
