The Salvamar Menkalinan vessel of Maritime Rescue rescued 11 immigrants and recovered five lifeless bodies on Thursday night after being located by a SAR plane aboard a boat 110 miles south of the island of Gran Canaria, as reported to Europa Press by sources from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands.

The Helimer helicopter also traveled to the scene to evacuate two of the survivors, who were in serious health conditions and needed to be transferred urgently, although one of them died, while the other person was transferred to the hospital with symptoms of hypothermia, in such a way that 11 people have survived this trip.

For this rescue, the support of the merchant ship B.Sun has been counted on, with the immigrants arriving at the port of Arguineguín this Friday morning.
