A citizen has asked the Cabildo to "complete its work" and "place the signs" so that parking spaces for electric vehicles are respected. According to this reader, who has contacted La Voz to make the situation public, the parking spaces for this type of car are "never" available, as they are occupied by diesel or gasoline cars. In addition, she states that the lack of signage prevents vehicles that occupy them from being fined.
"Every week I go to Arrecife in an electric car that my company has and I can never park in the space that the City Council has reserved for this type of vehicle on Avenida Marítima (next to the Hotel Miramar), as it is occupied by gasoline or diesel vehicles," she says.
This citizen explains that she has contacted the Local Police "on several occasions" to report this situation and also went to the Environment Department of the City Council, where she was told that it is a space ceded by the City Council to the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the exclusive use of electric vehicles. However, "as the vertical no parking sign is not in place, the Police cannot call the crane," she explains. She adds that the same thing happens in Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen.
Faced with this situation, and convinced that "we only learn to respect the rules when it affects our pockets", this resident has "begged" the Cabildo to install the signage "so that citizens can respect this space reserved for the few who have decided to invest in ecological vehicles".
