Dirt from garbage remains in Playa Honda containers

A resident of Playa Honda denounces the "serious problem" they suffer in relation to the garbage accumulated in the containers on Princesa Ico street. It was already in August 2013 when the reader contacted La Voz to denounce a similar problem, which is repeated again today: "They have changed the garbage to a very nearby corner and the situation is getting worse", he points out.

All because the containers "are not suitable for the numerous restaurants in the area", he says. A quantity of garbage that leads to forming "oil puddles on the street, flies fluttering around the garbage, and a fishy smell that becomes unbearable", he acknowledges.

In addition, "we have been fighting for ten years to solve it", he adds desperately. "Our daughters have never been able to play on the terrace and we have to hang the clothes inside", something that shows the lack of hygiene they have had to face for years. "We have sent several letters to the town hall for years but we never get an answer", he criticizes.

"Our daughters have never been able to play on the terrace and we have to hang the clothes inside"

He assures that "they are aware of the state of the containers: they are broken and on a yellow line in a curve, they partially cover an electrical register, the surroundings are full of glass, the garbage truck has to reverse in an area of low visibility with the risk that this implies for pedestrians", and many other difficulties that make it impossible for the street to function properly.

Without forgetting that the restaurants in the area "throw all kinds of waste in those containers that are not suitable for it", he adds. A practice that poses "a risk to the health of the residents", he warns.
