A resident of Costa Teguise has contacted La Voz de Lanzarote to question the return of the hammocks to Bastián beach. “I understand that they are good for tourism, but not in that quantity and on the beachfront”, she criticizes.
“It prevents us from passing through to the neighbors”, denounces this neighbor, who affirms that the presence of hammocks harms the walk of the residents of the area, both adults and children. “They would avoid annoyances if they put the hammocks on the other side, near the wall, so that we can all enjoy it”, she proposes.
In addition, she also complains about the presence of umbrella stands, “many of them empty”, which she considers to be “a danger to everyone”. “During the day the sun reflects on them, and you don't see them. You have to dodge as you walk along the beach”, she adds.
The affected party assures that she has conveyed all this to the Teguise City Council and that they told her “that they were going to look into it”, although she is not confident that this will happen. “This City Council does not care about the neighbor”, she points out, also lamenting the state of the beach showers and that the public bathrooms “are closed”.
On the other hand, she also questions the presence of electric scooters that abound in tourist areas, which prevent residents and tourists from walking on the maritime avenue. “They go through the area and if you're not careful they run you over, you can't walk peacefully”, she asserts.
“The collection eagerness of this city council with scooters, strollers, hammocks and others, is destroying the quality of life of the residents, who are the ones who pay the taxes and watch with concern the deterioration of gardens, beaches, sidewalks or the cleaning service”, she concludes.
