The I Interisland Youth Tournament Cabildo de Lanzarote, a tournament organized jointly by UD Lanzarote, International Reyes Methodology and Cabildo de Lanzarote, in addition to the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council, held the final day on Thursday afternoon.
In the fight for third and fourth place, Orientación Marítima “B” defeated CD Teguise in the penalty shootout. And in the grand final, UD Lanzarote defeated Unión Sur Yaiza 2-1, lifting the champion title of the first edition.
The afternoon began with the consolation final that pitted Orientación Marítima “B” against CD Teguise. The rojinegros managed to have a two-goal lead in the first half, after the goals scored by Hugo García from the penalty spot and Alberto. The verdiblancos reduced the difference before the break through Gabriel Brito and Asier Rosa scored the equalizer in the second half. In the penalty shootout, Marítima “B” was more successful to win 6-5 and take third place.
With a large influx of public in the stands of the Municipal de Argana, the final between UD Lanzarote and Unión Sur Yaiza was held. The two teams were very intense from the start of the match and even the rojillo team missed a penalty in the first half, with goalkeeper Sione making a superb save to Abián's shot. In the second half, Aday Cruz, also from the penalty spot, and Sarabia gave UD Lanzarote a two-goal lead. Unión Sur Yaiza reduced the difference through Ilyas.
At the conclusion of the match, the awards ceremony of the I Interisland Youth Tournament Cabildo de Lanzarote took place. An event that was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, and the Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Juanjo López. Aday Cruz (UD Lanzarote), with 2 goals, received the trophy for top scorer. And Niall (UD Lanzarote) was awarded as the best player of the tournament.
Two intense days of training football have been played in the Municipal de Argana, facing the four representatives from Lanzarote who will compete this season in the Interisland Youth League of Las Palmas.
