UD Lanzarote, with more difficulties than expected, defeated CD Tinajo in the first semi-final of the XX Juan Morales Cáceres Memorial. The red and whites won 1-2 against Tinajo, in what was their first pre-season preparation match. Lanzarote waited until the final minutes to turn the adverse score around.

On the pitch of the Municipal de Los Volcanes the classic pre-season match was seen; little play and desire to please by both squads. CD Tinajo worked hard and put UD Lanzarote against the ropes at times.

The coach of UD Lanzarote, Carmelo Hernández, took advantage of the match to give minutes to the players who are on trial. On the field was the left midfielder José Manuel, a player who last season defended the shirt of UD Vecindario and who arrived on the island on Thursday to be under the orders of Carmelo. Andreu was also on the field.

The first warning was given by CD Tinajo in the 1st minute. Elvis crossed from the right wing, the Lanzarote defense was unable to clear the danger, the ball reached Roberto and he could not beat Floro who stopped low. Good intervention by the UD Lanzarote goalkeeper.

CD Tinajo would take the lead in the 34th minute of the first half. Javi executed a free kick from one of the sides, Floro cleared the cross with his hand and the ball fell at the feet of Isaac, who only had to push the ball into the second post. With the 1-0 score, the first 45 minutes came to an end.

In the second half, the game was blocked and muddled at times. UD Lanzarote was unable to get close to the goal defended by Héctor with danger. For its part, Tinajo defended with order, exerted strong pressure and at times its players were tough.

In the 82nd minute, the equalizing goal would arrive for UD Lanzarote. After a free kick, Rosmen controlled the ball with his back to the goal, turned around and sent the ball into the back of the net. Just two minutes later, Rosmen, in his attempt to control a ball inside the area, was run over by the goalkeeper, with the referee pointing out the maximum penalty. Tenerife native Alex was in charge of taking the penalty and establishing the definitive 1-2

Few conclusions can be drawn from the first friendly match of UD Lanzarote. The red and whites will play in the grand final of the XX Juan Morales Cáceres Memorial on Saturday night. Before, today from 21:00 hours, Haría CF and CD Corralejo will play the second semi-final.
