UD Lanzarote could not get past a draw in their visit to Estrella CF, tying in the final minutes a match that had become difficult at the start of the second half. Despite the draw, the red and whites remain two points away from the promotion play-off zone, keeping their options intact.
UD Lanzarote started intensely, with Adrián Machín starring in the first chance for the visitors. Based on crosses from the sides and balls hung into the area, UD Lanzarote had control of the match, although the push faded as the minutes passed. The score was tied at zero at halftime.
Estrella CF took the lead in the first minutes of the second half. Vitolo starred in a play in the vicinity of the area, and his shot with his left leg beat Ruymán. UD Lanzarote took a step forward and had several chances to equalize the score.
The equalizer came in the 88th minute, with Raúl heading in a corner kick. Until the end of the match, both teams had chances to take the victory, but the match ended in a one-goal draw.
With the draw, UD Lanzarote remains two points away from the promotion play-off zone. The red and whites will host Unión Viera next Sunday, but before that, on Tuesday, they must play the quarter-final of the José Antonio Ruiz Caballero Cup against CD Becerril.
