Neither the intermittent rain, nor the strong wind that blew on Saturday, November 16, prevented the Haría Extreme Lanzarote from developing with total normality. At 5:30 a.m. the Cicar Ultra started from Femés, a southern municipality of Lanzarote. Although the wind was not favorable, the rain did give a break in the south of the island. What was observed was a gale called Cristofer Clemente, runner of the Cicar Ultra category, who devastated his competitors with a time of 8:39:23.

Prodigious performance of the runner from La Gomera that placed him in the first position followed by Ionel Cristian Manole (9:11:00) who was second, followed by Fran Rodríguez Martín (9:24:32) in third place. In the women's category, the winner was Ana Cristina Constantin (11:51:24), second was the British Gemma Game (12:29:25) and Miriam Moreno (12:45:34) occupied the third position.

In the Naviera Armas Marathon category, the winners were Alejandro Mayor and Cristina Santurino. From the beginning of the race a group of runners took control, among them Borja Fernández, Raúl Latorre, Alejandro Mayor and Mario Olmedo, among others. Together they ran for a large part of the course, until Alejandro Mayor managed to advance in the Ascent to the Risco de Famara, achieving an advantage that he knew how to manage until the finish line. Mayor stopped the clock at 3:42:45, followed by Raúl Latorre (03:44:11), and Borja Fernández (03:33:26).

The Haría Extreme, the final touch of the Spain Ultra Cup

Cristofer Clemente's victory in the Ultra also helped him take home the title of absolute winner of the Spain Ultra Cup. Cristofer arrived in Lanzarote with the accounts quite clear to become champion of the circuit: only winning was enough. The runner from La Gomera marked territory from the beginning and did not speculate with the race rhythms. From the first kilometers he remained in the leading positions, following his own strategy. During the first quarter of the course he was always accompanied by a handful of athletes among whom were Agustín Luján and Ionel Manole, his two main rivals in the fight for the title of the Spain Ultra Cup.

In the M category of the Spain, Alejandro Mayor and Cristina Santurino won. The victory of the Canary Islander in Haría Extreme added to his triumph in the Long Trail of Guara Somontano and his silver medals in Sierra Nevada and Riaño helped him take the title of the Spain Ultra Cup M.

In the women's category, Amanda Martín arrived as leader in Lanzarote but could not maintain the pace of Yolanda Fernández and Cristina Santurino, who distanced themselves in the leading positions turning the fight for the title into a one-on-one between the two. Both maintained the duel until well into the race, but on the way to Los Gracioseros the Madrid athlete increased a gear and achieved a cushion of minutes that placed her as a great favorite for victory.

Carrera - Haría Extreme Lanzarote 2019

The Canary Islands Ultra Championship was decided in Haría

The Cicar Ultra category has been the only valid test to crown the best long-distance runners in the archipelago. The Haría Extreme Lanzarote was the test chosen by the FECAMON (Canarian Mountain Federation) to contest the championship, which went directly to Cristofer Clemente and Sandra Moreno, who imposed their law demonstrating their great power. Cristofer was proclaimed champion by achieving the first place in the general while the runner from Telde reached the finish line as the fourth female of the 95-kilometer distance.
