The top finishers of the Ironman Lanzarote are facing the foot race, after overcoming the 180 kilometers of the tough bike course. The British Philip Graves remains the great dominator of the race, although in recent kilometers he has begun to have physical problems, which could undermine his chances of winning the final. The Catalan Víctor del Corral has placed second overall and has many options to fight for the win.
Philip Braves has made an extraordinary segment on the bike and has been increasing the differences with the passage of kilometers. Around one in the afternoon he completed the course and is more than eleven minutes ahead of the second classified. A difference that could be more than enough if it were not for the physical problems that the British triathlete is suffering. Two years ago, physical problems forced him to retire in the marathon area.
The Spanish Víctor del Corral, a triathlete who spends long training seasons on the island of Lanzarote and concentrates at Sands Beach Resort, is performing a test from less to more. On the descent from the Mirador del Río he has placed second overall, with many options to fight for the final victory. The third place is for the British Stephen Bayliss, who has entered the transition zone more than 17 minutes behind.
In the women's category, the Danish Michelle Vesterby is not finding rivals in the Ironman Lanzarote and is more than 10 minutes ahead of the second classified. A second place that corresponds to the Madrid native Saleta Castro.
