The weekend brings a novel competition with only female participation, it is the "Women's Regatta" organized by the Canary Islands Sailing Federation. It will be held tomorrow Saturday and Sunday in the waters of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The regatta is a qualifier for the National Women's Sailing League, which will be held in June in Villagarcía de Arosa (Galicia).

Among the nine registered teams is the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, which is formed by Andrea Stinga, Gabriela Gil and María García. The three young women from Lanzarote will compete against two teams from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, two from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, in addition to those representing the Club Deportivo Código Cero (Lanzarote) and the Gran Canaria clubs Club Deportivo Morenotwins, Club de Regatas Suroeste de Mogán and Real Club Victoria.

The competition will be held with Ideal 18 class boats that the organization will provide to the participants, who will be three per team and may not exceed 220 kilos in swimwear.

8 races are scheduled in fleet format with real-time classification and windward-leeward courses. With one race completed, the Women's Regatta will be valid. Discards may be made from the sixth race held.

On the afternoon of this Friday, training sessions will be held with the crews making contact with the boats. At 19:30 the skippers' meeting will be held. The first race on Saturday and Sunday will have the attention signal at 11:00 am.

The Ideal 18 boat is a monohull design by Canadian Bruce Kirby, which was first built in 1989. It weighs 562 kilos, has a length of 5.44 meters and a beam of 1.89 meters. It is equipped with a fin keel weighing 318 kilos with a draft of 0.99 meters. As for its sails, it uses a mainsail of 10.09 m2, a jib of 22 m2 and a spinaker of 22 m2.
