The Canarian ball in Lanzarote continues to reap triumphs and demonstrate its supremacy at the regional level in each of the competitions. Last weekend, the Lanzarote Men's Team won the title of champion of the Canary Islands, after winning in the grand final against the combined team of La Palma. A triumph that will allow the island of Lanzarote to have two combined teams in the next competition to be held in October on our island.
The competition was held on the courts of the Canarian Federation of Canarian Ball and Petanque, located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and was attended by teams from all the islands. The Lanzarote Team, made up by the coach Marcial Corujo, was composed of Indalecio Bonilla, Santiago Sánchez, Eleuterio Caraballo, Lorenzo García and José Manuel Padrón. The president of the Lanzarote Federation of Canarian Ball and Petanque, Oliver Duarte, traveled as a delegate of the expedition.
The Lanzarote Team reached the grand final after defeating Fuerteventura in the semi-final round. The Lanzarote team won in the three games played in the modalities of quadruples, individual and doubles. La Palma would be the rival of the "conejeros" in the grand final and again they gave no options to their rivals. Lanzarote won in the individual modality by 15 to 7 and in doubles they won by 15 to 9. Their only stumble was in quadruples, modality in which they lost by 12 to 13.
The competition corresponded to the 2012 season and the triumph of the Lanzarote team will allow Lanzarote to have two men's teams in the next championships to be held in Lanzarote in October. A success that joins the one achieved by the women's team, who also became champions of the Canary Islands.
Taking advantage of the dispute of this competition on the island of Gran Canaria, the Assembly of the Canarian Federation of Canarian Ball and Petanque was held. An assembly in which modifications to the regional regulations of Canarian Ball were approved and will come into force within a month.
