The Open Isla de Lanzarote Tennis Tournament is once again an international tournament, bringing together tennis players who want to be in the top 200 of the ATP ranking. A tournament that has declined in recent years due to the economic crisis and aims to regain the international prestige it once had. Tennis players of the stature of Jo-Wilfreid Tsonga, currently among the top ten tennis players in the world, have passed through Lanzarote.

The XI Open Isla de Lanzarote "Trofeo Grupo Fariones" is part of the Canary Islands Tennis Circuit, which brings together six international tournaments held in La Palma, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The tournament will be a Futures category, being a must for international circuit players who want to access the top 200 of the ATP world ranking.

Among the favorites to win the Open Isla de Lanzarote are the Swiss Michael Lammer, currently ranked 235th in the ATP ranking, and the Spaniard Guillermo Olaso, who occupies the 238th position. The seeds are completed with the presence of the Romanian Catalin-Lonut Gard (284), the Russian Ivo Klec (305) and the Swiss Alexander Sadecky (347).

The Open Isla de Lanzarote "Trofeo Grupo Fariones" is endowed with $15,000 in prizes and 73 ATP points are awarded in the individual draw. During the weekend the preliminary rounds will be played and from Monday, May 31, the matches of the final draw will begin, composed of 64 players. All matches will be played at the Centro Deportivo Fariones facilities.
