The motorsport activity in Lanzarote is now resting after the intense 'Rallye de los Volcanes', but in 15 days it returns with the 'III Rallysprint Yaiza', a race that this year continues to maintain its different format, divided into two days. The chosen date is September 22 and 23, with six timed sections (three in each direction of the approximately 9 km route), divided between Friday night and Saturday morning.
This nocturnal part always has a "special attraction" for fans, but it also allows the organization of CD. Evesport to develop the rallysprint "bothering less the residents of the towns of Las Breñas, Maciot, Femés and Las Casitas", points that cross the section of the route. A double effort for the organizational teams, having to travel two days to the test, but after the success of last year it is expected again to "surpass the spectacle offered to participants and fans."
The competition begins on Friday from 9:15 p.m., starting the race from the Uga parking lot (assistance area), to compete two passes to the Las Casitas-Las Breñas section (through Femés) and the remaining four on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m., to finish around 4:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony in Playa Blanca.
In total there are 54 timed kilometers, almost as many as in a large rally. Yaiza scores points for the Canary Islands Regional Championship, to which the Lanzarote event arrives after the Tenerife event of Atogo a week before. Also valid for the Provincial of Las Palmas and penultimate round of the Island Championship of Lanzarote.
The tourist area of Playa Blanca will serve for the second year as the headquarters of the event, with the prominence for the vehicle checks and awards ceremony, which will be held in the Plaza del Carmen. The town of Uga will also be part of the rallysprint program, with the location in its parking lot of the assistance area, thus avoiding the use of the road as a work park. Evesport will organize a "paella" for all the teams, to finish Friday night in the same work park with a little social life, which was so successful last year.
This rallysprint organized by CD. Evesport once again has the support of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and its Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, as well as the Yaiza City Council and Deportes-Yaiza and the Cabrera Medina Group (CICAR and Orvecame), in addition to the collaboration of the FALP and FCA federations.
The next event will be the official presentation of the race, on Wednesday, September 20, "the place and time will be confirmed later." Registrations are now open until Thursday, September 14, through the web, where all the information of the race is also published.
Last year the victory was clear for the team of Yeray Lemes-Javier Afonso with Porsche 911 GT3, followed on the podium by Oliver Rodríguez-David Rivero (Porsche 911 GT3) and Suso Lemes-Raúl Martín (Mitsubihsi Lancer Evo).
