The second round of the competition in the Women's Silver Division of Honor kicked off with the match between CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife and Errece Almassora Balonmano, a key match for the interests of the Lanzarote team after the results recorded on Saturday. After a first half full of inaccuracies, the women's team of San José Obrero put on their work clothes in the second half and ended up winning by a clear 27 to 17.
The match began with a CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife not at all fine in the attack actions, the players sinning of being very individual in many of the actions and not valuing the collective. Under the sticks, Irene Sánchez was in charge of keeping the locals alive, making a good number of saves in the first half.
Errece Almassora Balonmano managed to have a two-goal advantage, with Ana Brenes taking advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper, in the face of the passivity of the defense, to establish the 3 to 5 when barely 11 minutes of the first half of the match had been played.
The reaction of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was immediate and would come with a 5-0 run to obtain a three-goal lead (8-5). Mizuki was in charge of cutting the difference and Miriam Páez, from the pivot, achieved the tie. Then, Esther de Miguel from the wing scored to put the Lanzarote team ahead and Miriam Páez showed her effectiveness from 7 meters by scoring two shots.
Errece Almassora Balonmano cut the locals' run with a seven-meter shot transformed by Dorottya Margit. CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, far from tilting the match in its favor, allowed the Castellón team to tie the match through Yasmina El Haddar from the right wing (9-9).
In the final stretch of the first half, Errece Almassora Balonmano took the lead twice on the scoreboard and in the final seconds it was Mizuki Hosoe who was in charge of putting the tie on the scoreboard. With the twelve-goal tie, the first 30 minutes of play came to an end.
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife changed its chip in the second half and that helped them to get the match on track in the first minutes of the period. The match resumed with a 4-0 run in favor of the locals, with goals from Adina Ghidoarca (2), Mizuki Hosoe and Leticia Cobo, having to request the coach of Errece Almassora Balonmano a time-out when barely six minutes had been played.
After the indications from the bench, Adina Ghidoarca culminated a counterattack and the Paraguayan Jazmín Mendoza increased the difference to six goals (18-12). The Castellón team took more than nine minutes to pierce the goal defended by Irene Sánchez, and the key was the defensive intensity of the Lanzarote team, beginning to defend as expected of a team that wants to fight for promotion.
After passing the equator of the second half came another of the key moments for CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife to score the two points that were at stake. The exclusions of Aida Brull and Leticia Cobo, being left with only four players on the court, did not prevent the local team from achieving a 2-0 run with goals from Jazmín Mendoza and Adina Ghidoarca (23-14). The Almassora coach had to request his second time-out.
The difference was around ten goals, which allowed CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife to face the remaining minutes with quite tranquility. With the score of 27 to 17 the match came to an end, adding the locals the two points that were at stake and beginning in a victorious way the second round of the competition.
The top zone of the standings is compressed in the Women's Gold Division of Honor, after the victory on Saturday of Balonmano Morvedre against Lobas Global Atac Oviedo.
