Trial by fire for CB San José Obrero Lanzarote on Saturday afternoon, having to visit the court of the second classified and testing the dynamic of results that has allowed the Lanzarote team to lead the classification with solvency. San José Obrero and Disciclín Balonmano Lalín demonstrated why they occupy the first two positions in the classification, and offered a great spectacle that was decided on the side of the Lanzarote team by a tight 33 to 34.
The first part of the match was marked by equality and by the fast game that both teams tried to impose on the court. The Galicians played with a pavilion that was full to the brim, with the public carrying the players of Disciclín Balonmano Lalín in several phases of the first half.
Disciclín Balonmano Lalín proposed a 5:1 defense with Javier Iglesias in the advanced position. It was not until the 8th minute that San José Obrero took the lead for the first time on the scoreboard, with Diego Fernández scoring two goals from his court and taking advantage of the fact that the rival had emptied his goal after finding himself with an excluded player (3-4).
San José Obrero managed to have a maximum difference of two goals in this first part (5-7), the reaction of the locals was not long in coming with a partial of 3 to 0 and regaining the initiative in the electronic scoreboard (9-8). With four minutes left for the break, Bruno Fernández from the pivot established the 15 to 13, having to request a time-out from Iñaki Malumbres.
Discilín Balonmano Lalín enjoyed its maximum advantage after the indications from the bench, stealing and culminating a fast counterattack through Javier Iglesias. The visitors did not leave the match and at the end of the first 30 minutes of play, the result was 18 to 17.
In the first ten minutes of the second half, the Galician team held the initiative on the scoreboard, but little by little it would be surpassed by CB San José Obrero Lanzarote. The goals of Óscar Silva and Rafa Robayna put the 23 to 25 on the scoreboard and later, Carmelo Álvarez raised the advantage to three goals (26-29). Pablo Cacheda had to request a time-out when he saw how the match was slipping away.
San José Obrero did not take his foot off the accelerator and after the time-out scored through Mikita Liavonau and Carmelo Álvarez, increasing the difference to five goals (26-31). The advantage with four minutes left was four goals in favor of the islanders, but Disciclín Balonmano Lalín was not willing to sell their defeat cheaply.
Ramón Gil, with a seven-meter shot and culminating a fast counterattack, put the 33 to 34 on the scoreboard. In the last attack play, San José Obrero committed a foul in attack and allowed the local team to have the last play of the match to maintain their options of tying. Román Pedreira's shot crashed into the crossbar and the victory was taken by San José Obrero by a tight 33 to 34.
The victory allows the Lanzarote team to increase their difference to ten points with respect to Disciclín Balonmano Lalín and maintain eleven over OAR Coruña. In the next match, the Lanzarote team receives the visit of Balonmano Ribeiro Rodosa – Ourense, a match that will be played on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy.
