After the presentation parade held on Saturday morning, on Thursday afternoon the starting gun was fired for the twentieth edition of the Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival "Lolina Curbelo". With a Sports Palace of Argana full of spectators, more than 2,500 people, the exhibitions of the different gymnastics groups of Lanzarote have begun. This time, the Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival has "The Olympics" as its main theme.
The activity stage has been installed in the Municipal Sports Palace of Arrecife, in Argana, on which the different participating groups have taken part in the Inaugural Session held on Thursday afternoon. Rhythmic and artistic gymnastics have been the main protagonists, but dance, aerobic or artistic and sports skating will also have a prominent role.
Before the start of the first session of the Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival, a small gift was given to Lolina Curbelo, promoter of this gymnastics meeting since its creation 20 years ago. As a gymnastics teacher at the Las Dominicas school in Arrecife, she was the promoter not only of this event, but also of the extraordinary pool of athletes and rhythmic and artistic gymnastics coaches that the island of Lanzarote currently has.
On Friday, the Festivalito de Danza y Bailes will take place from 7:00 p.m. A session dedicated to children under 9 years of age and in which the youngest members of the different clubs on the island who do not belong to the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics modality will be the protagonists. The event will be in the Sports Palace of Arrecife, located in the Argana neighborhood.
