The 2019/2020 season began for Magec Tías Against Gender Violence facing one of the teams that is presumed to be fighting for the top positions in the Women's League 2, Spar Gran Canaria.

The match began with an advantage for the Gran Canaria team, which took the Lanzarote team to get into the game, with equality as the main tonic in the first two quarters, reaching halftime with an advantage for the local team by 41 to 40.

"After a start where we couldn't find the balance, several positive attacking actions got us into the game, to make a great second period where we managed to get ahead in some instances of the game", explained Jesús García, coach of the Lanzarote team about what happened in the first half of the match.

In the third quarter, a 22-2 partial made the possibility of victory for the Tías team at the La Paterna Pavilion very difficult. Magec Tías sinned in the precipitations of the game and that was taken advantage of by Samuel Sosa's girls, to put the match very much in their favor, even with a quarter to go. The last quarter was again even, but the advantage already acquired by the yellow team made any glimpse of victory impossible, concluding the match by 80 to 56.

The coach of the Lanzarote team defined the second half explaining that "a bad start to the third quarter meant that we started to go behind, with very little gas in the tank. Our short attacks and their quick transitions meant that we had to ask for two timeouts in the third period to try to change the dynamic. In the last period when we rebalance our defense-attack we compete again in that quarter".

Despite the defeat, the Magec Tías coach draws positive conclusions from the match. "I think that the effort of the first half was reflected in the beginning of the third period, even so the team left good feelings and we are left with the positive", concludes the coach.

In the second match, the Lanzarote team will debut at home on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against Osés Construcción Ardoi, hoping that Jesús García will have the foreign players, who due to injury could not be in this first match of the season.
